I have just chanced upon a glorious video of Holy Mass being celebrated according to the 'Sarum Use' - that is to say, the rite of Mass as it was celebrated in England at and before Henry VIII's time - i.e pre-Tridentine, given its ancient usage still apparently validly (although very rarely) celebrated in this form today.
The clip below, in particular, brought tears to my eyes. If only all Masses could be so beautifully sung.
I intend to do some more research on this Use as I'm fascinated by the development of the Mass - I want to know how traditions and rubrics have changed over the ages and to see how, say, the Mass of 1500 years ago compares to that of 700 or 300 years ago and then to today's.
